    As we begin the tax busy season, our tax team at @bhm has prepared a guide for you to ensure a successful filing season.
    In this article, we'll cover the distribution dates for key documents, crucial deadlines for submitting documents to bhm, the specific documents you'll submit to our team, and potential impacts on your returns due to recent government legislation.

    1. Document Distribution Deadline for Taxpayers

    Brokerage 1099s are due for distribution on February 17th. Keep an eye out for any corrected 1099s issued after this date.

    2. Deadlines for Submitting Documents to bhm

    To ensure your return is filed on time, the documents must be submitted to bhm by the listed date:
    • Individual returns: March 10th for returns to be completed by April 15th
    • Partnership/S-Corp Returns: February 16th for completion by March 16th
    • C-Corp Returns: March 16th for completion by April 15th
    • Trusts: March 17th for returns to be completed by April 15th

    3. What specific documents we need from you

    Government forms:
    • W2
    • 1099 Forms: 1099-R (retirement distribution), 1099-SSA (Social Security), 1099-INT (Interest Income), 1099-DIV (Dividend Income), 1099-NEC/MSC (Non-Employee Income, Rents, Other Income), 1099-SA/5498-SA-HSA (HSA Distributions and Contributions)
    • Schedule K-1 from pass-through entities or trusts
    • IRS/State/Local Notices received
    • 1098 Mortgage Interest
    Itemized Deductions:
    • Real Estate Taxes
    • Charitable Contributions
    • Summarized Medical Expenses (we do not need individual receipts), including: Health Insurance Premiums Paid, Prescriptions, Doctors' Visits, Medical Equipment, Long-term Care Premiums
    Other Income
    • Rental Income and Expenses
    • Business Income and Expenses

    4. One Big Beautiful Bill Updates

    • SALT Cap Increases
    • Overtime Deduction
    • Tips Income Deduction
    • Enhanced Child Tax Credit
    • Extra Standard Deduction for taxpayers who are 65 and older
